Is PlayVersusAI free to play?
Yes, completely free. Create an account to save your stats and appear on leaderboards.
How does the AI work?
Each game uses specialized algorithms. Connect 4 uses bitboard representation with negamax search. Mancala, Checkers, and Reversi use minimax with alpha-beta pruning. On AI Training difficulty, the AI searches as deep as possible within a 2-second time limit.
What are the difficulty levels?
Easy (shallow search, some random moves, hints shown), Medium (moderate depth, minimal randomness), Hard (deep search, no mistakes), AI Training (maximum depth with time limit, the toughest challenge).
Does the AI learn from my games?
Yes. When you beat the AI, your winning strategies are analyzed and saved. Over time, the AI adapts to counter strategies that players commonly use to defeat it.
Can I play against other people?
Multiplayer is currently in development. For now, you can challenge AI opponents and compare scores on the leaderboard.
How does the Coach Mode work?
Coach Mode provides real-time move recommendations while you play, shown in a side panel. After the game, you can review every move with detailed analysis, including what the best move would have been and why.
Are my games saved?
Yes, every game is recorded with full move history. You can watch replays of any game from the Replays page. If you're logged in, your stats and win/loss record are tracked on your profile.
